Maine Business School Recruitment Brochure
Copywriting & Brochure Design
Speculative Work
I completed a skills test for the University of Maine’s Marketing and Communications team with the objective of creating a trifold brochure to recruit out-of-state students for the Maine Business School (MBS), using the University's branding, voice, and data from the Maine Business School's website, with a clear call to action. The project required creating both the visual design and marketing copy while aligning with UMaine's established brand identity, voice, and messaging frameworks.
I began by researching previous recruitment materials, higher education copywriting, and current college industry reports to better understand the target audience and what should be highlighted to position the institution effectively. From there, I developed a student persona to guide my messaging decisions, identified value propositions, and crafted concise, brand-aligned copy that emphasized affordability, hands-on learning, AACSB accreditation, career outcomes, and the unique experience of studying in Maine. The brochure was designed using Adobe InDesign, with careful attention to typography, hierarchy, photography, and visual narrative, to create a scanable, easy-to-navigate story.
The final brochure showcases the skill of combining strategic thinking, copywriting, and visual design into a cohesive marketing collateral. By utilizing storytelling, copywriting frameworks, and a strong visual hierarchy, this brochure demonstrates how intentional design can communicate a brand's values and inspire prospective students to envision their future at the University of Maine.
